After Heartland Collective Weekend Retreat October 2020
Dear Craig,
I am overflowing with peace and gratitude for this lovely Heartland weekend. My sunrise walk in the lake basin yesterday and sunset walk in community remind me of all the ways we shared love, nurturing, wisdom, and sweet community.
In my gratitude journal I wrote highlights of moments I feel grateful for...
Delicious, nutritious and creative cuisine designed and served up with a full comedy routine by Chef Craig along with tasty contributions from Monica & Shannon. Asian pear chutney with gut shot, cardamom, ginger and lemon. Chia cakes with grated carrot, apple, jujube date cooked in the cob oven, Another batch with homemade pesto from sprouts and marinara, lots of bubbly raw cheese. Marinara made with donated garden tomatoes. Tiny avocados to squeeze and Concord grapes from Monica and Carl’s garden. Roasted parsnips for the season, the roots grow down, unlike tubers. Visits to the garden for purple and green basil, full of ozone. Chickens walking into the kitchen and all around for tasty scraps. Chats with friendly hosts Anders and Shama. Walks at sunset to view the sun setting over the distant lake, and to experience the drained lake bed. Morning walk at sunrise filled with the peace of four days in nature. Kids playing happily in the Yuba river, hula hooping and catching lizards at camp. Sweet sleep in the 12 section tent on a comfy futon. Shakti naam yoga class with Courtney, movement class with Craig, evening talk on fall cleansing. Tecchino with raw cream. Flax meal cereal with raw cream. Great company of Diana and Craig for the drive included hilarity at the freeway pit stop near Benicia where we foraged almonds, exercised, and performed a roadside hack roping up the mud guard...
...May all beings be nourished and free!

"My son suffered from severe eczema starting from the age of 2 until about 11. We tried different moisturizers and Kaiser recommendations. Until one day the outbreak was so bad that he couldn't walk to school. Craig was the only one who helped us. Through the application of herb baths and ointments, herb drinks and diet changes we were able to stop the acute phase of my son's eczema within a few days. We avoided the intake of Kaiser antibiotics and learned how to control the eczema going forward. A lot of Craig's recommendations I have adopted into our daily diet. Today when I look back at what we went through I feel grateful to my friend who recommended Craig and I feel grateful to Craig who helped my son to feel better."
